This week's update is a little late, but that's a good deal for you, since I'm making it up to you with a special coupon code that anyone can use.
This week’s special discount: Use coupon code 5SHORT to get $5 off all orders for the next week! Yes, every order! That'll easily cover your extra elastic and personalization so you can get a perfectly customized notebook without paying anything extra. Next week we'll get back to specials on specific items, and back to sharing coupon codes ONLY in my weekly emails, so make sure you're on the list for future deals.
Keep making your purchases count: The Heart For Africa traveler’s notebooks will be available through October, with sales helping to fund a November mission to Uganda. I wrote the first check today to donate the proceeds from September sales and it made me so grateful to know that you've partnered in this work. It's humbling; thank you.
Baton Rouge Mini Maker Faire: I was overwhelmed by the response to my leathercraft at last weekend's event! I estimate that at least 200 people came by to make their own personalized leather tag, and it was so much fun to see the excitement that comes from learning a new skill and making something unique.
Running out of eyelets didn't seem to deter anyone! #ebrpl #makerfaire #gobr #iammidcity #personalized #leather #leathercraft #leatherstamp #handmade #madeinlouisiana #diy #doityourself #getyourhandsdirty #brmakerfaire

Big stuff is coming: Stay tuned for next week's update, since I'll be sharing several big announcements! You'll want early access, so subscribe to Red Pen emails and make sure I'm not ending up in your spam folder or tucked away behind one of Gmail's many tabs. Then you'll keep getting the earliest updates and discounts (usually on Tuesdays, at least a day before I post on the blog).
Help me out! Does your state have a giant ball of twine tucked away somewhere? Or prize-winning banana pudding? Surely there's a tidbit of historical trivia about your hometown. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with your interesting factoids! I know you've got a wealth of information stored up in that gray matter of yours, so share the love and tell me about your hometown and state.
I'll start: I grew up just 5 miles from San Felipe de Austin, the very first colony in Texas, settled by Stephen F. Austin way back in 1823. (Is it any wonder that I'm such a die-hard proud Texan?) San Felipe is a tiny hamlet now, but ol' Steve's dogtrot cabin still stands. If you've traveling Interstate 10 west of Houston, take Exit 723 and jog a bit to the north along FM 1458 to see it.
Don't forget to use coupon code 5SHORT to get $5 off all orders for the next week! Let me know what I can make for you.
Until next week, travel light!
